Paper Abstract:      This research attempts to investigate the effects of students’ Chinese essay writing performance through the employment of two different conditions that are similar with the exception of the online interactive system available to students, in which the experimental group was given instructions via the conditioned-writing-based online interactive system, and the control group received traditional paper-and-pencil writing instructions. This study designs and constructs an online interactive writing system and selects students as research objects from two seventh-grade classes of a junior high school located in Taoyuan County, Taiwan. Research findings show: The functions of this writing system exert significant difference on students’ Chinese essay writing performance on the “argumentation” and “organization and structure”, two essential elements of Chinese essay writing and result in significant difference. This study proposes practical application of online interactive writing system in high school students’ learning of Chinese essay writing.
